“The Gardiner Gallery is the current exhibition venue for the Art Department and the OSU Museum of Art. The Gardiner Gallery Assistant is a ¾ time position that includes benefits. The Gallery Assistant supports the museum staff and Art Department faculty in maintaining successful day-to-day operations of the Gardiner Gallery. A primary duty of the Gallery Assistant is coordinating publicity for all Gallery shows, including creating press releases, exhibition postcards, Gallery schedule fliers, A-frame posters, etc. Experience with graphic design and excellent written communication skills are therefore necessary. In this capacity, the Assistant is also responsible for maintaining and updating the Gallery mailing list and Facebook page, administering the museum (generic) email address, and for outreach across OSU/Stillwater. The Gallery Assistant will also work with the museum and university staff to maintain and update calendars/schedules, both internal and external; document Gallery and Museum activities, and help coordinate student exhibitions. As needed, the Gallery Assistant is expected to assist with a variety of other duties, including the installation of art, student intern coordination, and general staff assistance. The Assistant will often be the first contact point for visitors to the Gallery, and in addition to occupying the Gallery desk during business hours may be the front desk receptionist at certain after-hours events such as receptions and openings.”
