Building A Collection: Exhibition Installation

We have been working night and day (not to mention weekends!) to bring you the Larry W. and Mattie R. Harms Collection of African Art, on view in the Gardiner Gallery for the next month. Today’s post is short on words but long on pictures as we see the exhibition begin to take shape.

The collection begins its journey to Stillwater...

We begin to unpack the collection, with the help of Summer 2011 intern Crystal Labrosse.

Associate Curator and Gardiner Gallery Director Shawn Yuan begins hanging masks.

The tools come out — along with pedestals!

Textiles go up fairly fast, compared with masks and sculpture.

Archivist and Registrar Topher Lundell helps Shawn with the mask installation; it's a two-person job!

John F. Kennedy looks on approvingly as all we have left to install are exhibition labels.

We hope you’ll join us for the exhibition, which will be up through August 26. A closing reception and panel discussion will be held on Thursday, August 25, from 5-7pm.

This exhibition is sponsored by the Stillwater National Bank and the OSU Division of Institutional Diversity.
