Applications for Summer and Fall 2012 internships are due on April 16!
As you probably know, we’ve been running an internship program at the OSU Museum of Art for some time now. In fact, looking at the blog archives, we started having an internship program even before we knew we had a museum in the making! Over the past three years, our internship program has grown from one or two enterprising Honors College students to three students each Fall and Spring, as well as summer interns.
As demand for internships began to exceed our capacity, the museum staff discussed implementing an application process. In the past, enrollment has been first-come, first-serve, with a limit of three students each semester; our advertising has mostly been word-of-mouth. Our hope is that the application process will make the selection more fair and spread the word about our internships beyond the Art Department.
But there’s even more exciting news! For the first time, this summer, we are offering a paid summer internship for an advanced undergraduate student. This opportunity will offer an in-depth experience working with the museum staff, the art collection, and faculty, staff, and collections across campus. The eight-week, full-time internship is designed for students seriously considering further study or work in art history, museum studies, arts management, or related fields.
