Dean’s Showcase: the OSUMA helps bring student art to the College of Arts and Sciences

Over the summer, Oklahoma State University welcomed a new Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Bret Danilowicz. In a meeting with him earlier this semester, we discussed the art displayed throughout the Dean’s office areas (on the second floor of Life Sciences East). Dean Danilowicz suggested using his display space to engage dynamically with current student and faculty work. Together with Jack Titus, head of the Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History, we established the Dean’s Showcase for Student Art. The description below, written by Professor Titus and myself on behalf of the Art Department, is posted alongside the student art that was installed for the first time this fall.

The Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History is pleased to partner with the Oklahoma State University Museum of Art and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences to present work by current students in graphic design and studio art. Student work is selected by a jury of faculty and museum staff, and is rotated each semester.

Our department wishes to express its deep appreciation to Dean Danilowicz for creating this venue to showcase the work of some of our most outstanding students.  Providing opportunities to recognize achievement is essential to stimulating the creative spirit and enriching the lives of our students as they pursue their goals as young artists.

More! I really wanted to see these pieces. Any way to show us more photos?

Sue, unfortunately I didn’t take many more photos — but you are always free to take a stroll through LSE 202 and see them in person!
